The Local Area

Situated on the edge of East Prawle Village, Higher House Farm is just a 20 minute drive from Kingsbridge and 15 minutes from Salcombe (via a passenger ferry).  The village centre is only a 10 minute walk away where there is Piglet Stores, Grunter's Cafe and the Pigs Nose Inn.  Piglet Stores sells local produce, newspapers, gifts and beach gear.  Grunter's Cafe serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as locally produced ice cream and wonderful cream teas.  The Pigs Nose Inn is a popular pub and serve food and host live music events on a regular basis.

There are two farm shops within a 15 minute drive, Springfield at East Charleton and Stokley between Stokenham and Torcross.  Both have cafes, Stokley is home to South Hams Brewery and most of the vegetables and meat sold at Springfield is grown around East Prawle.

The beach at Horseley is a 20 minute walk from the farm and is excellent for rockpooling.  The sandy beaches at Mill Bay, Sunny Cove, Seacombe Sands (Gara Rock) and Lannacombe are all within a 15 minute drive away.  There are plenty of wonderful walks to take advantage of in and around the village including the South West Coast Path.

East Prawle is within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the most southerly village in Devon, and a good base to explore the market towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Totnes.  It is also convenient for visiting the Dartmoor National Park.
